"Über den Tischrand schauen" 

Drawing on the German expression „über den Tellerrand schauen“ (“to look beyond the edge of one’s plate”), this work invites us to step beyond familiar perspectives and to rethink communal spaces. An embroidered tablecloth made from sustainable linen fabrics extends beyond the edges of a round table and flows out into the garden. Embroidered onto the cloth are plates, cutlery, glasses, and other elements of a set table, which, through the use of fabric scraps and oil paint, become integral parts of the artwork.

The tablecloth itself thus becomes a space for encounter, inviting visitors to become part of the process. They are encouraged not to hesitate to spill, stain, or leave traces — for this project, such marks are explicitly welcomed. Every stain and imperfection becomes part of the story, making visible the visitors’ own participation in the work. Over time, the tablecloth collects the traces of these encounters and transforms into a living archive of shared experiences. Each mark carries its own story.
